Ayous ThermoWood®

Ayous is a great alternative to Western Red Cedar and Siberian Larch.  Western Red Cedar price are currenlty very high and sadly due to Ukraine Russia conflict, Siberian Larch Cladding being no longer available to legally purchase since the conflict started.

Ayous (Triplochiton scleroxylon) is sourced from Central Africa.  Commonly known as African whitewood, Obeche, Samba, Abachi and Wawa, these trees typically grow to around 50m in height. 

Ayous is suitable for our climates due to the thermal modification process which consists of drying, heating and cooling the timber in a controlled atmosphere.

The ThermoWood® process which is 100% natural heat process produces chemical changes to the cell structure of the Ayous that not only alters its appearance, but increases its durability similar to that of a tropical hardwood therefore is a suitable cedar cladding replacement. 

Thermal heat treatment limits shrinking and swelling which provides the wood with additional dimensional stability, guarding the wood against warping as a result of changes in moisture.

ThermoWood® is sustainable, dimensionally stable, and resistant to insects. It requires no coating, which makes it a responsible and ecological choice throughout its life cycle.
